What this called?
I have birds nesting in it- almost all year round. My car is parked directly below it and I have a tenant parked directly behind me (also underneath the lines). Because of this impromptu 'bird house,' I get about 10 times the normal bird activity on my power lines. That translates into 10x the droppings, which, in turn, results in 10x the damage to our cars.
I'm fully aware that parking your car outside is going to shorten the life of it's paint job and no matter what you do, it will get crapped on, but this is just a constant bombardment.
When we called the power company, they told us:
1. The 'box' has to have openings/can't be shut.
2. There's nothing they can do about the birds nesting in it.
Are all of these things inhabited by birds? Have they been upgraded/become less bird friendly over the years?
