Hello, I am adding on to a greenhouse and the addition will have the same pitch roof as the existing (following the same rafter pitch out another 8'). What's the best way to join the new rafters to the existing ones? Thank you

I don't like to rely on the old rafters to much in case they need to be worked on in the future.

See in the picture, I have cut the rafter so it will slide in and then used a wedge to fit down to the wall or beam.

On the outside is a 1/2" plywood gusset to prevent cracking at the apex or what ever you call that angle.

I think I would slide the new ones up beside the old ones and let the wall hold them up.
