Attached is a close up picture above the front door and below of a small window. Also a picture of the entry way to get an idea.

There is a metal plate above the door, you can see a little bit of it in red.

My home inspector said that the changes in temperature cause that metal plate the expand and contract which has caused the mortar to crack.
My home doesn't have any foundation issues.

What is the best way to fix this crack or should I just leave it alone as it will it reappear???

Thank you.

I would call a Mason and see what he says. He will know the proper type of mortar to use to tuck point that brick. I personally wouldn't leave the crack there because water is getting in there and will likely make it worse.

edit: Well, it is up under the porch and pretty well protected, but I would still call a mason. Or, you could grab a tube of GEOCEL Mortar seal and fill those cracks yourself.
