Hi All,

I need to run a support beam between my subflooring in my ceiling to hang a 100 lb 150" projection screen (flush in-ceiling mount housing).

It has 2 mounting points, so basically 50lbs x 2 via a bolt fastener on either end, but i understand that weight tolerance needs to be twice what you plan on supporting, so i'm targeting a minimum of 100 lbs weight tolerance per support.

Here's a image what i have planned:

What i need to know is
a. do i have a solid idea for handling this weight
b. what hardware should i use to attach these cross supports from the sub-flooring above?

I'm by no means experienced, but i am handy. I just want to know what a typical contractor would use in the way of hardware to properly hang a cross beam to support this kind of weight (Joist hangers? metal brackets? etc)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Still best to have it all in one post since it will get confusing. Maybe the moderators can merge the threads and you can get good combined advice at the same time. No harm done. Good luck with the project.

That should work I would pre drill the block so screws aren't hard to start up there.

You could add some corner straps to back it up.
