I'm nearly ready to begin installing new can lights in our master suite, and I'm thinking that I would like to use LED can lights (please stop me here if standard can lighting is advised). I would like some help here in selecting a can light and trim to install.

I'm currently thinking of using Juno IC21R Shallow 6" Cans with a Sylvania 70644 LED remodel lighting kit. Is this a good setup for bedroom, closet and bathroom? I plan on using a dimmer switch on all lighting circuits with these lights.

I'm also hoping to receive some advice about the suggested spacing for LED can lights. Is there a good rule of thumb to follow?

Those Sylvania trims are great. As for spacing, that's up to you:

Depending on how much light you want, you could space `em 4 feet apart, or 64" or 80". Those values are multiples of 16" -- the standard spacing of ceiling joists.

IF your joists/trusses have 24" spacing, then your spacing should be in multiples of 2 feet, such as 4 or 6 feet.

By using spacing like that, it doesn't matter whether your rows are parallel or perpendicular to the joists, they will always fit.

Thanks for the word of wisdom. I'm glad to knwo that the Sylvania trims are good quality. I'm familiar with the Juno cans, co I was most concerned about the quality of the trim and the compatibility with a shallow can.

Also, I appreciate your suggestion about the spacing of the cans. I'll follow the 16" rule for spacing as that is my joist spacing. I'm still curious about a recommendation for spacing though. Is there a consensus of a good range for spacing to get good lighting in a bedroom, bathroom and closet?
