I really need a leaf blower and only want battery operated.

One complaint in reviews is lack of force. If I go with high mph and CFM (whatever that is) can I expect satisfactory use for around my home?

I have a Toro battery weed eater that I love so hope to find a battery blower that works as well.

I have a 6 year old Black & Decker 18 volt weed whacker and blower set.

I don't know the rating, but the blower has plenty of force for most household uses. But I only get about 15 minutes of run-time per battery. I've got 3 batteries, so I can usually swap them out, enough to get most jobs done in one session. These are old NiCad batteries, don't know how newer Lithium batteries perform.

ZZZZ, 15 minutes? Thats how long my arm would hold out, so that would be fine. I found a website 'Popular Mechanics' with reviews and good ones cost more than I can spend. And they're brands I never hear of.

My kids insist on getting me things for xmas, so I'll wait and give them this as an option. No perfume or robes for this mom.

Its sandy here and several borders around the house are rock borders as is common here.

Haha, once was sweeping sidewalk with a broom and some teen boys drove by and leaned out yelling, "look, shes sweeping with a broom".

For cleaning up leaves in the fall, you want a big gas powered blower with 600 cfms. I can definitely see situations where most battery blowers would fail miserably. But for the type of use you describe, I think you'll be fine.

I doubt you'll ever regret going for more cfms, though. Any tool is going to work better if you have some power to spare instead of pushing it to the limit on every job. Get as many cfms as you can afford. Maybe this one:

I have had a 36v B&B blower for a few years. They are great on hard surfaces such as driveway, patio, deck, things like that. They are horrible for in grass. they rely on that hard surface to help bounce the air under the stuff your moving, the grass breaks up that air to much and makes it difficult to really push anything around. If you dont want gas, go with a corded blower. They are fairly cheap and have plenty of power for the grass.

I just recently bought the 40V Black and Decker blower, and it's definitely strong enough to blow smaller leaves, but large, heavier ones like magnolia are a little bit of a different story.

I know with corded ones you can get higher air speeds, so if you're able to those might be a better option (and they're usually cheaper).

Blowing is cool, but where will you blow them to? If edge of property line adjascent to woods, ok, but if it's neighbors property/street/other wont you have to collect them anyway? If so, just rake, and pick up/dump into trash bag/big container for trash p/u, or whatever (mulch pile, etc)

Blowers to me are overrated/oversold, like most things in ouir world- another "gotta have". - its another "tool" to own/maintain. Raking- no noise, no tool to store/maintain, just a simple rake.......Oh- I own a blower. Stays hung up mmostly.

No. Nothing really beats a gas blower in power. Corded would come in second and battery power would be third. They all have their place though and battery tech seems to keep improving so its possible that someday it might catch up but I dont think its even close yet. I can blow the stuff off any hard surface with my battery powered leaf blower but you can forget trying to blow stuff out of the yard. To much resistance for the amount of air its putting out.

I have to say I was impressed with the battery powered leaf blower at HD. It was a slow day for the associate and he spent an hour showing me the features. The only downside was the cost. I think the leaf blower was $159 but then you had to buy the 40 volt battery for another $99. A bit too rich for me. It was either an EGO or a Greenworks, not a Ryobi.

Most battery-powered models only last well under 30 minutes, so if your garden is quite large you’ll probably need to go for a mains-powered unit.

I've got the Makita brand blower. Lasts 30 minutes on high.

It is powerful enough that I get a little whiplash back when I turn it on.

I'm not a big fan of this gas -> battery transformation of power tools and I usually will go with gas in almost every instance, but I've been really pleased with my blower.

I have a black and decker 20V blower, hedge trimer, and weed whack/edger. My lawn is around 8000 square feet and I'm able to weed whack and edge and partially blow the grass back on to my lawn on one battery. I have a second battery to finish the job. It's not good for leaves but I don't really have to worry about leaves as I mulch them and I don't have large trees on my property.
