I'm roughing in a drain for a bathroom sink. What height off the floor should the stub come out of the wall?

it depends on how high you want the lavaratory. short people 18". tall folks go 20" if you are going to go to a store and buy a pre-built unit then do so and dry fit it and see for yourself. if it is a wall hung lav use the 18-20 range. thanks, bb

about half a meter should be in the ballpark. It really doesn't have to be a certain height.

The measurments come with the sinks, if you don't want to use them keep your lines low and they will work; too high and you are SOL!

18" for drains
21" for waterlines. Standard height.

Those 'mixing bowl' sinks need a much higher drain---I don't know the standard for those.--Mike--

Don't forget that your basement drains must be vented. Vent can be tied into the existing stack but where it connects to the existing stack must be 42" above the highest fixture on that stack. If it is a 2 story you must tie in above the second floor sink (42" above the floor). No vent is what most home inspectors find right off when you try to sell your house.

I shoot for 161/2 in above finished floor
