My hot tap in my bathroom has gone a bit strange, it used to be fine but recently it will not turn at all, it's not stuck in as much you could loosen it it just seems unable to be turned meaning i can't get any hot water.

Has anyone else encountered this before and knows a likely cause and solution?

I had one tap in my shower getting very tight and dripping as well. When I opened it up to replace the seat I lubed the threads with plumbers grease and replaced the o ring with a spare I had on hand. Seemed like through the years as the O ring leaked the thread got messed up. Not sure and normally would replace the entire cartridge, but in this case I have more work to do in the wall. The grease made it feel like a new tap again.

I did try some grease, maybe I will take it apart and re-grease and see if it makes a difference.

Check the O ring too. If I recall mine was binding on the brass, grease helped... sorry just vague recolection on this one, it wasn`t the purpose of my dismantling the valve that day

sounds like maybe the shaft broke? it turns but does nothing? perhaps the 'gear teeth' are stripped? if it's a piece of china junk, that's likely the problem..... if grease didn't help, i'd pull the whole thing and replace it, if possible.
