My new home has 4 vinyl sliders in the basement. The contractor installed the windows using 2x4 untreated pine for the top header which sits on top of the concrete sill (not really weight bearing, just something to attach the top of the window to). Should these have been treated 2x4s being they make contact with the concrete sill? None of the homes in the subdivision that are built by the same contractor have treated wood over their windows either. I thought code required any lumber that makes contact with concrete needed to be treated or have a barrier between it. I live in Ohio. Thanks for any input.

Welcome to the forums! Yes, it definitely should have a waterproof barrier (per code) or PT wood IF any of these apply; http://publicecodes.cyberregs.com/icod/irc/2009/icod_irc_2009_3_sec017.htm

Even PT wood wicks water. Concrete is porous like a sponge, does the wind blow water on concrete wall as it drips from house wall/siding during a rain... unless is doesn't rain in Ohio... lol.
