We are looking to finish our basement and would like some advice on waterproofing the walls. We have already sealed the cracks in the walls with hydraulic cement, now we are wondering which waterproofing sealant/paint is best. (Behr, Dry-Lok, Zinsser, other commercial powder brands?)

I used Dry Lok and it seems to work great. I still keep a dehumitifer down there though.

Thoroseal has been used successfully on commercial, civil and industrial construction for many years before DryLok, etc. were though of.

The beauty of Thoroseal is that is totally compatible with concrete surfaces, bonds to it very well, can/should be applied to a damp/moist surface and can be recoated later by more other materials. - There are other concrete based restoration/maintenance Thoro products that can applied as a finer finishe coat.

It is usually not a "big box" DIY products, but can be obtained in some DIY stores and in contractor suppply outlets. It is messly to apply, but it is unbelievably effective.

In your opinio would say that Throseal is that much better then a DryLok or Behr product, both of which come ready to apply?

Yes. When I did my basement, I could have gotten DryLok, but used Thoroseal even though it was more work.
