I am installing a sink in our basement. The nearest drain pipe is from the powder room toilet above on the 1st floor. Can I just connect my basement sink to that drain? Is there anything I should be aware of? Thanks!

You will need to vent the drain so when the 1st floor toilet flushes it will not pull the trap seal from the basement sink.
