I bought a 1960's church and I'm remolding it into a large house, office's for my business, and will be doing some shipping out of the basement.
So far we have installed a full sprinkler system on the main level, upgraded the electrical service, installed 3 I beams with new pears, new roof, full gutting remodel of the main floor, septic system replacement, and a new main waist line going into the basement. We have now moved in.
I just started cutting up more of the floor to replace the waist lines under the concrete and to add a full bath and 2 half baths. We hung all new waist lines off the ceiling as there was a time issue to move in.
I had 7 day radon test done before we cut up the floor and the level was 0.6 pCi/l.
I don't think I need to do any under floor drainage as we just had over 9" of rain in 4 days with only a slight humidity change.
I'm working on getting another multi day radon test done with the concrete cut up, but having issues due to CONVID-19. I would rather fix the issue now if there is any issues.
I would like to put down ridged foam, add radiant heat tubes, and have a polished concrete floor when I'm done. There will be 2 single car garage doors when I'm done. I will use a pallet stacker on the floor. I also plan on some type of shelving, but with a current 14' 6" ceiling height I don't see anymore than 2 pallets high.
Is there any issues of pouring a new slab over an old cut up slab as long as I do not hand any voids? I know I will loose up to 1' of head room, but that's not an issue for me.
If this is done what is the right way to do this?
When I talk to the concrete contractor that will pour the new floor what are the questions I need to ask and what do I need to look out for?
