Finishing part of the basement. Was thinking of LVP and wanted to put a vapor barrier down first. Wondering if using 1 inch rigid foam would act as the barrier and place the planks on top. Head room is not an issue with 9 foot ceilings. Any thoughts?

I would personally go with dricore or dricore plus. Either option works but the + has added insulation. Lay it down and then go over with your LPV.

Doing it the way your wanting to, sounds like asking for issues, That insulation would lay flat on the concrete with no air space for it to breath trapping moisture which I can only assume would eventually cause issues.

Unless you KNOW for SURE that you do not have any moisture concerns, you can go with the foam. Just make sure to tape the joints.

If you have ANY questions, go with the the Dri-Core or similar product.

You want a path for any possible moisture to find it's way out.

I live in a high desert, very arid environment. There is sand under my house. I know for a fact that any water that does make it into the basement will drain away. My neighbor's house burned down, they pumped 5K-10K gallons of water into the house. By the next morning, there wasn't any water in the basement.

I plan on using something like the Dri-Core product.

Vapor barrier is polyethylene sheet.
Foam is insulator.
With the barrier between the insulator and the concrete you shouldn't have any issues. With 3/4" T&G on top, it's very similar to the way we've been doing garage conversions for many years now.

Concrete is porous and contian moisture and it is happy water only evaporates out when it is in contact with air. Nothing is going to stop flood water pushing up.
