I'm finishing my basement and putting in a bathroom. It's a newer house and doesn't have a cement slab. It has a wood sub floor with a 3' crawl space below, where the drain lines run.
So the bathroom will be below an existing half bath. The 3" stack runs along the wall behind the new bathroom and then it goes to a 90 degree elbow and runs below the new bathroom floor, then out of the house.
The new bath will have a shower against the wall where the 3" pipe runs. A sink and toilet will be in the opposite wall, with an unfinished storage space on the other side of the wall, behind the bathroom.
Does this sound like the right way to run the vents and drains.
First the shower. I plan on running the 2" drain into a Y fitting in the 3" main line that runs under the floor. I'll put a T in the 2" shower drain line after the P trap and run the vent up, then 90 it into the 3" main line on the wall and wet vent it.
On the other side I'll have the 3" toilet drain run into another Y fitting in the main 3" line under the floor. Before the toilet line gets to the main, I'll have another Y for the sink drain to connect to it. Now the toilet vent will run up in the unfinished space, then across the ceiling. When it gets to the other side where the main stack is, instead of connecting it to the 3" stack I can attach it to the 2" vent that is coming off the stack, below the toilet from the bathroom above. The vent from the sink, I'll just have going up in the unfinished space, then 90 it into the toilet vent.
I hope this makes sense.
Can someone tell me if this sounds right?

The 1 st thing ( IMO ) that you need to determine is . Is the existing main sewer line large enough to handle the additional load/ fixtures

Bathroom in basement

Have you made any progress on this? How did it go? Any idea how I can tell how far down the connection goes? I'm planning on making a trench going across a room but the room is about 30 feet. So to get 1/4" per foot pitch I need to go down about 7.5 inches and I'm not sure the main sewer pipe will go down that far. Does anyone know how far these pipes usually go down?
