I just put baseboard trim down in my basement and there area few spots where there are small gaps especially where the two boards are butted up and in some spots along the top of the board where the wall meets the board. My question is what is the best way to fill these small gaps before repainting. Also in some spots there is no way to secure the board to the wall due to no stud, is liquid nail a good option in these spots or just caulk it. Thanx

Caulk the gaps. But, most caulks are not adhesives so don't expect the caulk to hold as an adhesive. There are however "adhesive caulks" available that would probably serve both purposes.

The gaps at the floor are taken care of with a small molding called a shoe molding(around here) or you can use a 1/4 round or a variety of others. They bend more readily then the main base and will conform to the undulations of the floor,
