Hell everyone, first post here.

We just bought a house with baseboard heating. When I turn on the heat I get a clicking/ticking sound from the baseboards in the bathroom & bedroom(right next to each other). None of the other boards on the others rooms make this sound. As soon as I turn the heat off it immediately stops. The boiler room is right under the bathroom. We wind up having to turn it off at night because we can't sleep. Sometimes if we turn it off/on several times in a row it stops but not all the time.

Thanks for your help.....freezing and tired:eek:

sounds like the pipe and fins are expanding from the heat, the front pops off and inside there should be plastic pcs that the fin and tube clips onto, that pc keep the noise away. If none are found you should be able to get em from a heating supply, dont think box stores will have em.
Worse case for TEMPORARY ONLY there should be enuf play in the pipe to put wood blocks under just the pipe section. CAREFULLY lift up just enuf for the fins to clear the brackets.

Thanks

THanks very much sky. I am little confused as to where the "pc" will be. I assume you mean to pop off the radiator cover..lol...sorry. There are those metal fins around the pipe....right.

Thanks again.

OK, there is SUPPOSED to be small plastic pieces that clip onto the fins at the bottom, they go in between the fins and the metal support brackets on the back piece that is attached to the wall. The purrpose is to let the pipe expand and contract SILENTLY with the heat :}:}:} Sounds like in your case they are not doing their job  Those pcs are about 1 1/2 wide and maybe 2 1/2 front to back, kinda rectangular, Might be they just slid out of position that would be a nice ez quik fix if so.

Yeah I saw those pieces. But if I turn the heat on/off quick about 10x's it stops:thumbsup:. But that ia not the good solution I suppose...haha. I will look inot those pieces some more. Thanks very much for your input, it was much appreciated.
