Recently purchased 55 gallon drum of diesel and 12 volt pump. Necessary to install and remove pump twice on each refill. Pump is cast iron and weighs about 30 lbs. Bottom of pump has 2 inch pipe thread which fits the opening on the drum. To remove or install entire pump with hose attached must be rotated. Is there a device that could be placed between the drum and the pump which could be turned independent of the pump and drum?

If you are buying fuel in bulk ask your supplier. I have never seen a quick attach coupling but I would think there is on for you application.

Yep. Put a union between the barrel and pump. a short nipple out of the barrel then the union then a short nipple to the pump. just unscrew the union to remove the pump without having to turn the whole pump assembly at all.

Get a barrel with "2" bungs in it. One for the pump and one for the filling. had old 30's that had those that came with roundup in them. Would think plastic 55 's would too. One bung had 2" pipe threads and other 2 " but way coarser thread. Look for those at any ag retailer!!
