bar stool spins too easily

1722 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  carpdad
i have wooden bar stools with backs in the kitchen where we sit at the island.

1 out of the 3 chairs seems to spin very easily. much more so than the other two.

i took the top chair portion off to expose the spinning mechanism.

i dont see a way to tighten or anything.

does anyone have any ideas. i can post pictures if it would help, just let me know.

Deal with it, why is this an issue?
well the reason why is as soon as you get off it spins on its own and slams into the counter top.

not the ideal solution.

It can be very annoying when that happens.

Having a bad day Joe?
If it swings then the floors not level or the legs are not even.

Probably more like it keeps swinging when someone gets off of it.
Does sound like a joke. Candle wax in the screw may be enough brake. Plumbers taflon string? All may or may not work. Backrest is the weight that keeps it spinning.
