How will that change the slope?downhill said:you can see if you can raise the strainer, then thinset a new tile floor over it..
if you can get the strainer lifted, you can fill the slope with concrete and then thinset a new floor over the whole thing, no need to rip anything out..even if you use a piece of 3 inch pvc ontop of the existing strainer, just remove the screen and see if you can screw it into the pvc or see if they make grill to snap in...There are no problems with the floor, and it is 15 years old.
I thought that there may be an easier fix than ripping out the whole thing down to the pan. Will the mortar break off fairly easily, and what are the chances of damaging the pan?
15 years, yeah it is time for an upgrade. I would rent a small sized power hammer to break up the bed. As for the walls, you may be able to take them off in 2'x2' sections. If not, it will mean more trips with the garbage can for the person taking the debris to dump into a dumpster. There are no problems with the floor, and it is 15 years old.

If you are looking at gaining more room for the bath, by shrinking the shower down, or even placing a niche for bottles on the wall, this is the time that you get to make the shower new and good for another 15-20 years.
If you do not have one of the rolling type garbage cans that the garbage companies are renting out. I would get one of those vs. just using say a Rubber made that has to be picked up and carried. It will make the back feel a whole lot better.
We are charged a fee for both the recycling and waste containers every three months. That is because they are their property and we are still responsible if they get stolen or damaged."If you do not have one of the rolling type garbage cans that the garbage companies are renting out."
Are you saying that your disposal co. rents the rolling type of garbage can to you on a yearly basis??
