Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for some advice. I'm building an 8x8 shed, and I need to attach a sill plate of PT 2x4 to a preexisting 9x9 slab. I'm planning to use Red Head or similar wedge anchors to attach the wood. The slab is 10" thick, I'm thinking of using 1/2" x 5.5" anchors. My question is probably a stupid one, but I'm trying to determine the best way to position my wood and drill the holes for the anchor. Is it recommended that I position my 8x8 frame on the slab, and then drill through the wood into the concrete with my hammer drill ?

My thought was to drill through the wood and start the hole in the slab - then remove the wood and finish each of the holes - blow or vacuum out the dust attach one side to the concrete and continue around until I have all four attached. Is there a recommended approach to this ?

Also - this concrete is really old (like 40 years +) with lots of aggregate - any recommendation on a high quality bit. I'm guessing that I might have issues getting through it.

Thank you in advance

presser treat plate is good but put a sill gasket under it anyway.
I would snap lines on the concrete for what will be the inside of the wall so you can check for square before you start. It will drill thru the wood I would line up the wood , stand on it and uses a 7" long bit. Then if the hole is not perfectly clean no one will know. Hammer the bolt in and go to the next bolt.

Thank Everyone ! I tried using Ramset on a similar slab a few years back and it just cracked a piece off . When I contacted them they recommended using an anchor or Tapcon due to the age of the concrete. Not sure if Power Shots are different ?

I didn't mean the stapler.

I meant the ramset. When it first came to my attention way back when I called the power shot.

I never had any problems with it other then jolting the palm.

What color shot/.22 did you use.?
