I am replacing a light weight plastis coverd roof with a solid sheathing and shingle roof. I know the weight is more and want to know if I can lag bolt thhe new ledger to the existing facia board. Wil this offer eunogh strength? The over all deck roof is 12 feet from house to outside edge and 32 feet long. I plan to use 4x4 treated posts for the outside support. Any suggestions/advice?
Thanks, Mark

No, you cannot do that. There isn't enough support. The fascia board will hold up a gutter, that's it.
This is more involved, so I don't know if this is something you want to do.
Raise the angle of the roof and have it sit on the house roof. The rafters would be cut to intersect your house roof. You would need to remove some of these shingles to make the transition smooth.
