I now want to connect these two parts of the deck by putting a beam across this gap. I will cut 45 degrees on each end so that it connects flush on both sides but I am wondering what type of bracket I should use to connect the beam that I will add in the gap of this picture? Any thoughts?

That is not actually a beam. Same as you would for a perpendicular joint. No brackets, just toe-nail it. The span is not nearly wide enough to worry about a bracket. One other thing. I cannot really tell, but I don't see concrete piers. Those stupid cap blocks will be moving vertically. They should never be used for footings. They make a decent boat anchor I have read. Maybe invest in a roll of string. I see the 2 by on the right hand side not parallel with the double side 2 by. The right angle at the top of the picture is not at 90 degrees according to my software. More of about 92 to 93 degrees.

Thanks Andrew. The span is about 8-9 feet so I worry over time nails or screws will not be able to hold it level as it's on the edge. I thought maybe an angled bracket would help solidify the connection but I'm not sure if it exists. Ya the deck blocks are not concrete but I still need to fill in around them.

The do make them in a right and a left angle , but they hold you back 1 1/2" from the edge so you add another to side of it to get you out where you want it.
BTW, a single is a joist, 2 or more nailed together are a beam.

So with these angled joist hangers, you suggest I just screw in a second piece of lumber to the piece on the angled joist hanger to cover up the 1.5" that will be left exposed due to joist hanger?
