Astilbe

I have some astilbe's that we planted in may and have bloomed to a bright purple. Over th epast week, they have turner to a dark purple brown. Is that normal for these plants and are at the end of their bloom, or is there something wrong. I live in Chicago area.

How is the rest of the foliage? Are the leaves browning? They like continually moist, rich soil.

How much sun are they getting? Too much could cause scorching or heat stress. If full sun they'll need lots and lots of water.
