I have a concrete floor with vinyl flooring which contains asbestos. Is there any solution for laying tile over the top of it?

How well are they stuck to the floor?

If they are loose enough to peal off with a scraper then they should be removed.

If you can't get them off without breaking them--then you could safely bond ceramic tile ---

Let us know----

It is a sheet vinyl product and is stuck down quite well. What steps do I need to take to attach the tile to the vinyl?

Laying ceramic over well adhered sheet vinyl can be done---there is some risk of bonding failure--but I have done it a few times and did not have an issue.

First wash the old floor with a soapy water and ammonia mix--that will remove any wax --

Use a two part thinset--Kerabond and Keralastic is and example---this has the strongest bond that I have found---

Some modified thinsets will also work----I've always gone to the tried and true when facing a vinyl floor---Mike---
