I've been told that some Trane dealers are now switching to American Standard heat pumps due to continuing price increases that are making Trane not price competitive in certain areas. They are also being told and therefore telling new customers that American Std heat pumps are exactly the same as Trane, made in the same plants and have the same performance specs. Frankly, I wasn't even aware that American Standard made heat pumps but with all the changes in brand names and ownership over the last several years, it may be true for all I know. Can anyone validate these statements?

As far as I know, both are the same.
