Pelican

Don't waste your money-way over prices and the performance of the unit is minimal. They made all kinds of promises and they try to pressure you about how salt harms the envornment. Well, I guess mankind harms the environment-the bottom line is that the units do not work as claimed. Customer service is a joke. I put a new soft water unit in my old house and it is very efficient and uses little salt. I guess the downside is carrying the 40 lb bags every couple of months.

I looked into these,as I'm in the market for a treatment system. I guess I should be wary of a product that has nothing but glowing 5-star reviews.

I'm educating myself....

Softner

I purchased a new softener for my sister a month ago. The on-line company I dealt with was great and he carries both salt and non salt. He was very up front about the no salt systems, how they operate and the main issue is that they are not softeners. Call around and talk to a few folks before you take the plunge.

Yes, we just moved in last Fall, the weather turned rough within a week & the whole neighborhood went into hibernation. Haven't had a chance to meet or ask what everybody else is doing, but I did see a lady unloading 2 flats of bottled water .

Saltless technology, for better or worse is here to stay. There is growing concern over the environmental impact of draining salt water either on the ground or into city sewer systems. Several states are considering banning salt regeneration units altogether. I suspect Florida will soon be on that list.

Try this link and have a look. It is not a sales site, they only make the product. You have to get it through someone else.

I agree with you. Salt softeners will be outlawed in the near future. I wish someone made a slat free unit that was comparable. I'm really disappointed in my salt free unit-plus they are far more expensive-at least they seem to be.

I've sold a several of the Watts tanks. Changing the media takes maybe 10 more minutes that a regular media tank does.

You don't have to like them and I will admit that given a choice I will install conventional every time but, their days are numbered and time and technology marches on.

All softeners can use sodium chloride (salt) or salt substitute potassium chloride. If you use potassium, depending on salt efficiency setting of the softener, you must increase the salt dose lbs used per regeneration and potassium is hard to find plus it costs up to 4 times what the same size bag of salt costs.

Well i have always been a salt kind of guy and have replaced and removed more than a few of those magnetic and pulse type water softener/ anti-scale units. But to be honest I have not seen or removed and of the pelican units but I have not heard of them in neck of the woods . My feelings are 90% for a standard style softener as far as which one it depends on your water test and needs and for the manufacturer I have no problem with teh Culligan units other than cost but I prefer most of the fleck units the 2510 is a good unit for most applications but it is not possibli to give a good recomendation without some specific numbers .
