You may have heard about the big thwack VW got for cheating on emissions.

A while back a friend liked his so much that I considered getting one (a Golf, I think; maybe a Jetta) but backed off when reports on auto survey sites registered LOTS of complaints about difficulties passing the smog tests.

Any diesel VW that went through " diesel gate repairs " shouldn't have any issues passing smog . A friend of mine bought a 2017 Jetta diesel wagon that had the factory repair done . He loves his and still gets good MPG's just not as good as before . I believe but could be wrong that part of the settlement is VW had to extend the emissions warranty .
