Getting ready to redo my bathroom and this is my crawl space in the ceiling. My first thought was to just patch it up and not have a hole at all, but have thought better of it and need to make it look good. The only thing I can think of is replacing the old brown with some nice white casing. Any other idea's ??? Oh the old fan is going and is being replaced with a fan/light combo placed right over the shower.....

White casing sure would look a whole lot better, better yet would be to have that access inside a closet not there.
I hoping someone will back me up on this but I belive it's againt code to have an unsealed fixture of any kind in a shower area.

Your access into your attic is in your Bathroom????? You see a lot of firsts on these forums, this is one for me. Can You Move it into the hallway, or a closet? The humidity in a bathroom is going to warp the access panel. Painting the trim and access panel the same color as the ceiling would help too. I mean its going to be ugly, why make it stand out too???

Having the crawl space is tricky with the moisture a bathroom causes for sure. I would make sure you have a good air vent that will help draw out some moisture. I would switch the wood cover of the door to an acrylic board. and the trim to a mdf molding with a waterproof paint coating. You can also redo the door piece with maybe a piece of shower green board? Never done it but maybe someone might know if that's an option. Would paint it white and ceiling white.
