Any ideas on how to eliminate the reddish, vine like weeds shown in the attached pic, without tearing up and laying new grass? Winter is approaching and figured now would be a good time to attack them!

For sure. I cannot tell what you have to deal with from the ones you posted.

Did they turn red as fall approached? That would be an indicator they were headed for dormancy and probably are anyhow. An herbicide now would probably not do much.

I would be thinking about a post-emergent systemic herbicide like Round-up, carefully applied in the spring. Let's see what it is though.

Can you post close-up pics? It isn't very clear.

Why not pull out some of weeds and take it to your local nursery or services that lay lawns and ask them for advice on type of weed killer to use.

Hey guys, the snow has finally melted around here, so I was able to get a few more pictures. Any thoughts? the neighbors do not seem to have this issue.

Is it the dark brown/reddish stuff you are speaking of?
Still not close enough for me.
If that, is it dead or alive (turned brown)?
