I am now solely responsible for my house and yard with a shoestring budget. Presently having problems with my lawnmower. I have started a thread somewhere but basically it starts and then dies. It is a 9 year old Toro with a Tecumseh motor. I have changed the air filter and the gas. I think I need to try to clean the carburetor but being new to the machine thing I am not sure what it looks like. I think it is the silver box between next to the air filter and around the corner from the spark plug. Am I on the right track?

A fouled up plug can cause problems with how it runs too. The sparkplug is a very simple DIY fix. Cheap too. A carb is a bit more complicated.

Thanks - your the only one who answered my question. I gave up and bought a new one. When I get a minute I may take the old one apart for the experience:)
