Hi Experts, First of all I should start off by saying that I am a complete noob. Only achievements under my belt are replacing ceiling light fixtures and replacing our garbage disposer. After reading the DIY forums I was confident that I can replace our over the range microwave, but looks like I am pretty much stuck. I am replacing an old GE spacemaker microwave (I guess about 10-12 years old) with a new one, but I am not able to get it out. So here are some of the questions I had:
1. Is the frame/bracket supposed to stay and the inner microwave suppose to come out?
2. How in the world do I get the brass bolts out? I was able to get one off, but the other won't budge. I tried an adjustable wrench but no luck, a spray of wd-40 was also not very helpful.
3. Do I need to remove the exhuast as well? I guess thats whats holding it up. I tried moving the m/w around and I can move it a bit, but it won't come out.
4. There are couple of screws at the lower left of the microwave (similar to the brass bolts above), do I need to remove them as well?
Sorry for the long post but not sure where to go next
.
Thanks in adv.
Edit:
I was able to get the brass bolt off, but looks like it was the bolt that holds the microwave door hinge, so may be when people said remove the brass bolts I was looking at the wrong one
.
I guess the wd-40 need an hour to do its magic.
So now the only guess I have is the exhaust, and the question if I should be getting the whole thing out or the frame stays.
