We are looking at installing some type of engineered material in our family room. This will be the main room for having guests, watching TV, playing fooz etc..

A co-worker recommended Amtico. I don't see much in this forum on Amtico, so I was wondering if anyone had first hand experience (or 2nd hand...) with this type? Any pitfalls to watch out for? It seems a bit pricey.. any comparable alternatives that are cheaper?

There are two different Amtico brands that I know of, one in Canada owned by American Biltrite. And one in America. Both make Solid Vinyl Tile. Both are good products from what I've heard. If price is a concern look at the Karndean Knight Tile. It's a lot cheaper and still carries a light commercial warranty. Earthwerks also makes some similar products.
