Hello all,

I have a quick question about my electrical service. Is it at least 100 amps or is it 60. Top right breaker is what i assume might be main breaker, which says 60, which usually determines your service. Could anyone tell my service by looking what kind of gauge aluminum wire is? Thanks, Greatly appreciated for help!

Can you turn off everything with one breaker? If not, how many breakers do you need to turn off to shut EVERYTHING in your house off? What are values of them?

I am not too sure how many breakers takes to shut it all off.. i turned off the top right one, and the lights were off, but then i used voltage tester to check other breakers, most seemed off, but AC one(40amp), that is right bellow Main one (60 amp) , was showing to be hot.

A 60A service is actually pretty rare. Most people mistakenly think a split-buss main panel with a 60A "lighting main" is simply a 60A service. Typically this is a 100A service, and the top 8 or 12 spaces are four or six "main" breakers.

This sounds like what you have.

From all the research I did that's what it seems. I will try to get some examples of wire to compare to make sure i have 100A service. I wish my utility company knew more than " you have 240V coming to your house". Cheers guys!

The cable feeding your panel from the meter. Is it service cable or did they pipe it in? If it's cable do you see any writing on it? To the effect SEU 2/3 or 4/3 etc. If it's piped in can you possibly open one of the codulets "LB" and see if you can see any writing on the conductors within it? This may help in determining the size of your service also. Also are the cables aluminium or copper?

wire from the meter is piped, i believe. Cables are aluminum.

Okay so I found something on the cable as suggested by sparky. It says "kaiser aluminum -- 2AL-3 type SE 75C". That's a cable from meter to the panel.
That is a 100A service.
