Hello, 6 month year old furnance(model in topic) and having issue with the blower. The blower motor does not turn off even when I turn the thermostat completely off. I say blower motor because I only have cold air coming through the vents. The only time it turns off is when I turn the power off to the furnace. However, once I turn the power on, the blower turns back on and never shuts off.

I have checked some videos, did some searches and some pointed to the filter. This is the only thing I changed about a month ago and I installed it in the right direction. Other then that, i haven't done anyting to this furnace.

Your help in troubleshooting this would be truely appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi digitalplumber. No new thermostat or work done to this furnace. Also note, even if I turn off the thermostat, the blower continues to run/never turns off. Also should note that I have a constant blinking green led showing so I don't believe I have any errors.

Turn off the power and remove the C wire from the thermostat and turn the power back on.
If the fan runs you have a control board problem.
If it doesn't you have a thermostat problem.
I'll guess there is a fan switch on the thermostat....correct?
Is it in the auto position?

Disconnect G or if you want, all the thermostat wires to rule out an issue with stat and wiring.

6 month old furnace should be covered by warranty.

So for some reason after a day and 1/2 and after taking off the thermostat and reseating if (perhaps coincidental) it stopped. I was just about to try disconnecting the thermostat wire but guess I don't need to. My concern however is whether something is still wrong even though it turned off. Never had it run this long.

Did you move around any thermostat wires...wiggle, etc?
It is possible that some wires were touching and you managed to seperate them while messing with the stat?

The constant blinking green light is an indicator telling you that the thermostat is calling for the blower to come on. This is accomplished with the thermostat being in "fan on" mode. That can be duplicated with a wiring short or a thermostat problem. If you pull off the thermostat and the blower stops you can pretty much be sure it is a thermostat problem. If that didn't stop the blower then it is wiring or control board. Not much else left. Older units would have had a fan relay separate from the control board. They could stick from time to time.
Your unit has the fan relay integrated into the control board.

I see Missouri bound. It did not turn off when I removed the thermostat. Once this virus blows over, I will have the professionals here to diagnose this. I am hoping they can check some things to confirm as I probably won't be able to reproduce the issue unless it happens again.

Lastly, if I wanted to move this thermostat to a different location and because the wire connecting it from thermostat to furnace, is there a specific wire type I would need to purchase?

Thanks

The wire used is simply called thermostat wire. It does come in different gauges and number of wires. Just make sure you have enough wires to duplicate what you have. I have seen t-stat wire from 2 to 8 wires so you shouldn't have an issue finding the proper size and wire count.
One more thing. You said it didn't turn off when you removed the thermostat.
That could still be an indication of wires touching instead of the control board.
If you can remove the G and C wires from the circuit board see if that stops the blower. That would indicate a possible wiring problem.
Just a thought.

This furnace uses an ecm motor and may not have a fan relay.

It's 2-stage so really the W2 terminal should be hooked up to use the furnace to it's potential and stage based on needs of the house instead of run time.

edit: you don't have a 2-stage stat either.

The virus thing may not blow over for a long time and you should call the company and get it dealt with since the furnace was recently installed.

Things are so bad a lot of businesses may not survive after this.
