hello,

I want to use an aluminum fence panel and convert it to a gate. In order to do this I will be using 2 4x4 posts to attach the panel to. What I am wondering is this: Would it be easy/cost effective to wrap the wood posts in aluminum to match the panel, or would it be easier/more cost effectively to spray paint the posts to match the color of the panel. Keeping in mind that I want a pleasant asthetically nice appearance since it is in the main entrance way.

Wrap the posts, and add a decorative cap to keep out water.

Be careful about the weight of the posts. My neighbor has aluminum fencing, and it looks awesome, but one thing we noticed was the gates couldn't take much weight hanging on them. Nothing was welded. It was all press fit together.

Sorry, I can't see how using 2, 4x4 posts and an aluminum panel makes a gate. Sounds like a structural oxymoron.
