Hello: I need an air handler and a central a/c unit. It's a 900 sq foot space. I don't need heat - the floors are heated. Can I use a regular furnace, without connecting to gas? I was looking at the Goodman furnace and a/c packages available on amazon.
What is recommended. What is my least expensive solution. I do not want ductless. Thank you. I want to buy the equipment myself. I'll install it and I'll have the electrician hook it up.
Thank you.

You can only buy online if you want to do it yourself - I don't recommend it because the equipment to do the job is expensive and it can take a lot of time to learn the theory to do the job right.

Best to just get it done professionally -> you'll need room by room calculations and a duct design based on that.

Won't be cheap either way, wouldn't be surprise if total cost would be over 10 grand considering you need air ducts.

What size are these rooms? Is the whole room a kennel? Is this a dog kennel environment?
If so you’ll have to calculate outdoor air into the system.
You’ll have to do a heat load calculation to determine size.
You’ll also have to run and connect the refrigerant lineset. As well as pressure test it, and evacuate it. And there will be duct to fabricate.

Take a look at an online company Alpinehomeair.com
They have a lot of options for the non-professional including installation advice.
Would a split air system work for you? They are a breeze to install.
And why not ductless? It's the simplest way to go.
If you are worried about area coverage you can get them with 2 or more indoor units.

I've dealt with Alpine and like their service. They know their product line and can save you a lot of head scratching and possible missteps in brewing up your own system. Just a rule of thumb estimate for your requirements would seem that the smallest one they sell is good enough if you lived where I do but go to their site and use the calculator they have to estimate your own needs. Then take advantage of the expert level chat with them and they'll do all the product selection and give you a free estimate that will be available later when you decide to make a move on it.

They sell the whole shootin' match... single source availability is always a good thing.

Their size calculator is terrible last time i checked - they say enter zip code, sq ft, insulation poor/average/good or whatever - exact terminology i don't remember.

totally inaccurate and will oversize some applications and undersize others.

Could be, I've never used it but for a neo it's a good place to start, especially if your needs are as low as the OP states. 800~ 900 ft² isn't much equipment and I suspect he knows that already. It's half a dwelling... I don't mean to simplify it unduly but jeeze Louise,, it's not going to take much unless you're in a very extreme climate.

I use them for their low price and quality equipment. They have a local warehousing facility here in town (Goodman loaded) and delivery is always free. I think it's free anyway but not sure.

yah 2 tons absolute max in an extreme climate, but probably 1.5 because that's the smallest most manufacturers make them in. (i think mits makes a 1 ton)

the real calc is needed to design the duct system. how much does each room need?

funny thing is alpine has a calc for separate room but i believe it's still sq ft only - doesn't matter if it's a corner or middle room, which direction the windows face, if it has a kitchen in it or not.

Just like 75% of heating and air contractors do.
The idea is to be better than them.
