Hey i want to know what the purpose of the Condensing coil fins are, what are they there for anyway does it help with the releasing the heat ?
If they get damaged smashed or whatever do they really affect the condenser
Thanks

The fins increase the effective surface area of the coils, allowing them to release the heat faster. By effectively trapping air as it goes past the coil, it allows the air to transfer more heat. Thus allowing the evaporator coils at the other end of the system to absorb more heat.

Fin damage will have some effect, but it all depends on how bad the damage is. While the actual maximum output or the air conditioner will be reduced by a certain percentage, oftentimes the loss of performance simply means the unit has to run a little longer to maintain the same temperature, which may use a little more power.

Worst case would be that severe fin damage would result in the system running non-stop and providing very little cooling.
