I am building in a small town that has adopted the 2006 International Plumbing Code. Are AAV's allowed in this code?

All codes are subject to interpretation by the local inspector.
Check with your bldg. dept.

Yes it's allowed, but the city/county has the final say.

Also, there are situations where an AAV is not to be used.

It really depends on the local authority. Where I live they are allowed except in the city. One county over they are never allowed...go figure, eh? The IPC generally allows them, but if a local authority has more restrictive requirements then the more restrictive prevail....at least here. Just call your building dept and they can let you know for sure.

Not all AAV are created equal. Some are allowed others are not.
