AFCI for garage and exterior lights ?

My county follows the 2014 NEC requirements. The way I read it, it looks like exterior lights and garage lights would require AFCI if I have any of the switches for these lights inside the house but would not require AFCI if the switches were in the attached garage.

Is that a correct interpretation?
