I'm looking for an adjustable wrench that fits the power head of TXV valve. What you guys are using to remove a stuck power head?

With a little practice, channels locks will work.
The power head is really stuck. I need a narrow adjustable wrench. I tried channel locks but doesn't work.

I'll use this post to ask for some questions.

- Do you think if I use 3/8" hose with 1/4" adapter I'll get fast vaccum pump instead of use 1/4" hose?

- How do you deal with the black smoke when you light the torch inside the house?

You can find thin wrenches from the McMaster-Carr website at... http://www.mcmaster.com/#pump-wrenches

Also Snap-On has thin wrenches, VS52 and VS60 that fit a 1-5/8" and 1-7/8" openings respectively. These would fit the 7 and 63 elements.

Utica Tool Company makes thin wrenches under the brand name Bonney. Here's the breakdown and how they size up to Sporlan elements.

Bonney Number.............Opening Size...............Element Number
1230.....................................12/16"............................43
1232......................................1"...................................43
1236......................................1-1/8"............................53
1240......................................1-1/4"............................83
1248......................................1-1/2"............................33
1252......................................1-5/8"............................7
1260.......................................1-7/8"...........................63

Won't increase vacuum pull down by much.

Turn on the O2 and you won't get black smoke.
