Hi all,

We want to build an addition (which will consist of a garage with a bedroom and bathroom on top) on to the side of our house. Our house is a raised bungalow. Currently, we have a chimney on that side of the house (it is outside but attached to the side of the house). When we put the addition on, the chimney will be inside (instead of outside) and the addition will be about 4 feet higher than the old part of the house.

What will we need to do to the chimney? Can it just be extended higher or will we need to have a brand new chimney installed?

Thanks!

Is the chimney liner a ceramic one?
If so, its possible to add on to the top of this!
However, if its a continuous metal liner it will likely have to be replaced, as I don't believe these can be spliced.
