I am adding a 12X15 Garage to the back of my home. I live in the midwest and know I need a frost footer. I will be using two sides of my existing home. I will tie the floor into the existing foundation. Do I also need to tie the new footing into the existing footing all the way down? The garage floor will be on the same grade level as my current basement floor which is a walkout.

Will the two footings be at the same elevation? If so, dowelling them together is easy to do and would be a good idea.

Yes the footings will be at the same level. Do I drill into the existing footing and if so, how deep and do I use rebar and epoxy to secure? Also how how many do I need?

Personally, I think the epoxy is overkill, but I don't know what the actual soil conditions are, nor am I an engineer. I would put 2-3 5/8" dowels (about 16" long) into each footing, drilled at least 6" deep.
