Currently I have a wall switch that controls a halogen track lighting fixture on a cathedral ceiling. I would like to add a ceiling fan higher up on the ceiling. Running a new cable from the wall to the fan would be difficult but extending the circuit from the light fixture to the fan would be fairly easy.
My question is, could I use a fan remote that has a light control feature (fan has no light) to also control the existing halogen fixture by running a 16/2 cable from the fan receiver light output back to the light. This way as long as the wall switch is always on, both the fan and lights could be controlled independently. I'm not sure if a cable could be run up through the fan and downrod.
