I live in Michigan, my home was built in 1954. I am diy'ing finishing the basement, I am at a stuck on adding drains, mostly the venting. I am considering adding the bathroom underneath the are of the kitchen, and the powder room above on the main floor. In the basement the laundry tub is less than 8 feet away. In the floor there appears to have been left a intended toilet drain that is where I would like to build the bathroom, with a vanity and shower. In theory jack hammering and adding drains isn't scary. However the venting is my concern, the house is a ranch and has vents that go through the roof, however I do not have a place to tie into in the basement.
Am I correct in thinking that if a tie into the drain in the proposed location that since the first floor is vented I will be fine, or am I wrong?
I patiently await your thoughts and recommendations.
