I just found this forum and it is great!
I have a 70s split foyer sfh with a roofed (one car) carport. I would like to extend the carport foundation to accommodate a 2 car garage. So in essence adding 12 feet in width to the existing foundation, and 8 or so in length. Is this at all possible to do without the added cost of tearing out the existing slab?

A garage would require a footing and foundation, while a carport might only have footings under the supports. You need to find out what you have and compare that to the regulations a garage needs.
