Hey guys,

Is it a good idea to install acoustic insulation, for example EcoTouch QuietZone PINK FIBERGLAS Acoustic Insulation (from owens corning), just between the duct work and the basement ceiling?

I read somewhere that you shouldn't install insulation in a basement ceiling to prevent moisture... but in this case this acoustic barrier doesn't offer thermal resistance.

Anyway, I'd like to have your opinion on this.

Cheers.

+1.

Insulation in the joist bays is part of the equation, but the larger part is uncoupling the framing from the flooring above. I see no reason to not include insulation, but it isn't a magic bullet here unless you address the other sources of the sound/vibration transference.
