Went to turn on our air conditioner for the first time this summer and nothing. We can hear the thermostat click but no air comes out - even when set to "fan". If we switch it to heat then we get hot air coming out. The outside unit and the inside unit make no noise at all when we turn them on.

What are some things we can check before calling a repair guy?

Jump R to Y at the furnace, while making the door switch.
Use care as this involves working with live electricity.

Nope. New furnace put in in 2013. New thermostat with that. We did replace a fuse in the furnace this winter?

If the furnace works but the air conditioning does not, it's not likely the fuse.
