Hey HVAC DIY love this site. Found this thing in AC Closet. Does anyone know what it is, where its supposed to go.

In the heat of summer Mid July through August (Louisiana/Arkansas Border) I've noticed condensation dripping out of AC registers at times.

Could this thing be related to my condensation?

Thanks from the crax

That is a sensing bulb and is supposed to sense the temp of the larger line and then it controls the refrigerant flow. The way it is now the valve is wide open.

It should be under the bigger line and insulated PLUS you need to get a Pro to check to check and adjust the freon level after correcting it.

If not, liquid refrigerant may be slugging back to your compressor and will damage or destroy it.
