We have an A.O. Smith GPHL 50N Vertex water heater that was installed last fall and we're not getting any hot water.

Right now, on the panel, the green "warm/vacation" light on the left is on. Of the next 5 lights in a row, the first one is not lit and the next 4 are yellow. My son-in-law said the pilot light is out.

I would re-light the pilot, but I'm not sure if that will mess something up and I'm not sure which buttons to push to get it started.

Can someone who is familiar with this type of water heater tell me how to get it going again?

Thank you.

Update:

The company that installed it called and the guy had me unplug it for 20 seconds. When I plugged it back in, it started up again. Then he had me press the green and red arrow buttons for 1 second. After that, it lit the pilot light by itself and I could see the blue glow from the flame through the little square hole.

It set itself to the proper temperature.

He told me that something may have crawled up into the vent or it could have been a back draft into the vent from outside that caused it to go off.

There is a screen at the end of the vent outside, so nothing could have crawled up there.

It stopped working again yesterday. The guy came out to look at it and said it's either a bad gas valve or the board needs to be replaced. He cleaned something in there and has it running, but said if it stops again to call and they'd order the parts.
