Good evening. Just a quick question for everybody. I noticed the other day when I was replacing the furnace filter that there was a bunch of water pooled up on top of the furnace where the A-Coil connects. The next time that it turned on I went down and checked on it and it was spiting water out between the two. My first thought was maybe the drain was chocked up. It seemed to be working properly and was draining fine. Anybody have any ideas what would be causing the water issue?

Well if the drain is clear then the coil is either icing up or the pan has rusted out.

Is there an easy way to check either of them without major surgery? The unit is only about 5 years old.

Take the cover off of the coil and take a peek with the AC running. At 5 years old the pan isn't likely metal so it's probably icing up. Causes for icing are low on charge or not enough air flow due to dirty filters or dirty evap coil.
